Istanbul always invokes a unique feeling.
Early at sunrise, we took the high-speed train from Ankara to Pendik station. Even though they call it a 'high-speed' train, it frequently slows to a snails pace through the old villages that line the valleys and mountains, giving ample opportunity to take in the rustic Turkish countryside. When we exited the station we caught a cab to the nearest metro and rode the underground to Kadiköy. As we climbed the stairs and emerged from below, the sun warmed our faces, the smell of döner wafted through the air, the rush of people moving all around, and the glow of the sea was unmistakable.
We were in Istanbul.
Istanbul is a playground we should all appreciate. There is a blending of both old and modern culture, a buzzing international scene, everything interwoven through the windy streets of ancient Constantinople. If you're a world traveler, it's worth visiting regardless of age.
Besides having an immense appreciation for this metropolis which has been expanding for centuries, we were here for our first global photoshoot. The prospect of a weekend where we began our mission to celebrate art filled us with energy - young entrepreneurs ready to bring art back into the fold through clothing made us eager to take a long walk.
The city formerly known as Constantinople is an urban platter for a photoshoot, offering an international buzz both historical and fresh. Graffiti abounds, the sea glitters, the architecture slices the sky, markets glow, and a historic bedrock of art flows vibrantly through the city veins. Here, wars have been waged, empires rose and fell, and history was written, leaving a mysterious blend of culture, people, and design. We are lucky to celebrate this unique place.
It's a place we can try to describe yet is so indescribable. Istanbul is a place that one must experience, not just know about.
We're definitely coming back.
Well done team.
