OUR LITTLE SLICE OF PARADISE

Suddenly, the sound of tropical thunder and thirst-quenching rain falls around me as I sit on the bamboo balcony below a nipa hut roof (Nelly's Nipa Hut, Puerto Princesa). The air is cool, the choco coffee is hot. The next minute, those majestic towering dark blue clouds pass by with warm embracing light to follow. The birds, loud orange-tailed squirrels and various coloured butterflies peek out and float around the calm air. The air is now warm. A deep breath. I could get used to this.

Loosest.co is on the road again. This time, on the island of Palawan in the Philippines. Palawan has been rated several years in a row as the best island in the world.
We’re here for business and pleasure. Or rather, the way we look at it, business as pleasure.

The island of Palawan, for 2 years holding, has been rated the best island in the world by Conde Nast. Palawan is still a reasonably untouched gem in the world of tropical travel. Most people arrive in Puerto Princesa, then take the van up to El Nido. If you have more than 1 week, there are countless beaches, mangroves, mountains, rivers, and waterfalls to absorb. The best way to explore Palawan is by motorbike or scooter, which is cheap and expands freedom of movement. Highly recommended!

There are UNESCO Heritage sights such as the Tubbataha Reef (if you don't mind riding a boat for about for a week to get there) and Sabang Underground River. The Iwahig Firefly River Cruise allows you to feel the glow of thousands of fireflies in the mangroves, there are dozens of unspoilt beaches (rent a motorbike and find them yourself!) where you can sling your hammock under coconut trees, the popular El Nido Island Hopping tours are becoming world famous, the remote island of Coron remains unspoilt, and sunsets for miles in every direction.

Beware! You can expect the island to change in the next 20 to 30 years (the airport is expanding to accept direct international flights from Asia in 2017), so add it to your bucket list now!

Besides being here to appreciate how AMAZING the island of Palawan is, Loosest got our photoshoot game on. Considering we're in the best island in the world, we might as well snap our art and gear against the backdrop!
